Boulder County’s planned industrial-scale waste facility will stink. The County, nor any of its consultants, have ever designed, built, operated or even visited a composting facility of the scale they are proposing that uses the technology they are proposing. Their assurances of no odor impact for surrounding neighbors and communities stinks. There are no space-age materials fancy enough, no “tipping buildings” big enough, or no finished compost pure enough to contain the noxious odors associated with aggregating dozens of trucks full of rotting food waste, manure and sewage sludge every day. The County’s proposal stinks…especially if you live close by, go to school at Dawson, or live downwind in Erie or Broomfield!
